SIRST aspires to introduce, expand and
institutionalize Science-Religion Discourse (SRD) in Pakistan.
Its aim is to secure a niche for stimulating, challenging and
emerging discipline of SRD in the citadel of knowledge. It seeks
to bring home to scholars of all areas of knowledge the vital
point of using cross-disciplinary approach for tackling
fundamental and perennial questions concerning Man, Cosmos and
God. It plans to engage traditionalists and modernists in a
meaningful dialogue and exploration of each other’s realms. It
is to involve writers ,researchers, university / college/school
teachers , Ulema and theologians belonging to religious
seminaries and educated people from all walks of life in SRD
through a variety of activities & programs. Focus is on bridging
the ever-widening gulf between the traditionalists & modernists
, greater involvement of researchers/writers & inculcation of
interest in academia & all educated classes & to imprint the
importance of open ended exploration & expansive dialogue
between the two realms of science & faith in the complex world
of today.
SIRST hopes to yield results in the form of original and
creative books, research journals, acclaimed works on SRD in
translated form, conferences, workshops and seminars , trained
academicians and Ulema and outreach through website ; and
envisions emergence of the tradition of transdisciplinary
research, interaction and respect among different schools of
thought, its continuation, proliferation and
institutionalization.
Transformation of a society is a long and tedious journey. We
are confident that SIRST is set to contribute substantially and
significantly and be a milestone in the journey of
transformation of our society into an enlightened , progressive
, tolerant and a dynamic one.
Our Mission:
SIRST’s mission is to engage scholars from diverse
disciplines for constructive, meaningful and purpose- oriented
dialogue between religion and science. It is a forum which
aspires to assemble both traditionalists and modernists to
present diverse views and use transdisciplinary approach to
address fundamental and perennial questions about Existence .
SIRST’s vision is a world where understanding, harmony,
tolerance, respect and peaceful co-existence prevail.
Our Aspirations & Long Term Goals:
- Regional conference(s)/seminars on
issues at the interface of Science and Religion, Interfaith
Interaction and challenges and problems faced by great
faiths & their followers:
- Recognition of SRD in academia &
course designing on SRD for all levels.
- Establishment of SRD faculties in
universities and institutes of higher learning.
- Establishment of national
foundation on Religion & Science to cover every vital area
of SRD related research, with separate wings for various
disciplines and strata of society with focus on the role and
impact of Religion and Science in the advancement of
civilization.
- National foundation on Religion
and Science also serving as platform for greater
collaboration with different regional/faith
combinations–South Asia, Middle East , Central Asia, Muslim
World/& Abrahamic and Eastern religions.
