Introduction

Society for Interaction of Religion, Science and Technology (SIRST) has been working for the promotion of Science-Religion interaction for the last ten years. The society’s focus has been to engage opinion leaders, academicians, theologians, Ulema and scholars in this important but neglected area of inquiry in our part of the world. The society’s journal–Science-Religion Discourse, original books in urdu, translations from Arabic and English into Urdu and all Pakistan essay award competitions in English, Urdu and Arabic are steps towards familiarizing and then institutionalizing SRD in academia and traditional institutions of learning. All Pakistan book competition on Science-Religion Discourse (SRD) was announced to attract leading academicians from universities and institutions of higher learning. Unfortunately, the culture and standards of research in our universities and institutions of higher learning are not enviable. Only a handful of academicians undertake the labour of research. This was reflected in response to our competition. Many inquiries resulted but only three entries were received. panel of reviewers selected this book of Dr. Sultan Shah for award and publication.

Needless to say, the vital area of SRD has just started to attract the attention of academicians and theologians. We hope in the times to come realization of the importance and significance of SRD in the complex word of today will dawn upon our academia and they will atone for the negligence that this area of inquiry has suffered. This would surely result in higher standards in research and publications.

As for us, we are determined to continue our humble efforts for promotion and institutionalization of SRD as a dynamic and important discipline in our part of the world.
